Trade Currents was founded by leading trade economists and analysts. It uses extensive historical data from national and international sources to provide forward-looking economic analysis for the US and global economies. Trade Currents is supporting the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) in its port statistics program. We are also partnered with the AAPA in publishing a monthly report on US containerized trade.

Walter Kemmsies

Dr. Walter Kemmsies is Chairman of The Kemmsies Group. He is a leading expert on ports, rail, and infrastructure in the US His areas of expertise include demand forecasting, maritime and overall global trade regulatory issues, public and private port and infrastructure financing, and long-term strategic planning and capital investment.

Andrei Roudoi

Andrei Roudoi is an international economist with a PhD in Economics and over 30 years of experience. He worked extensively with Lawrence Klein, Nobel Prize Laureate in Economics, on econometric modeling for Germany, Brazil, Russia, and many other countries. Dr. Roudoi has developed trade and transportation forecasts for companies around the world and managed numerous trade, macroeconomic and sectoral projects funded by international organizations and government agencies including the World Bank, USAID, European Commission, and United Nations.

Scudder Smith

Scudder Smith has been an international trade analyst for over 25 years, supporting clients from the Panama Canal Authority and US ports to major investors in US and international ports and terminals, and many federal and state government agencies. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Nathaniel is a PhD Student in the Plant Biology department at Cornell University. He manages our database and acts as liason to the AAPA Port Statistics Program. In addition, he lends his scientific expertise to our analysis of the agriculture and chemical industries.
